The Wild Coast - a treacherous stretch of coast between the Mtamvuna river just south of Port Edward and the Great Kei north of East London - is ruggedly beautiful, a wilderness of green hills, deeply incised river valleys and lagoons.

Shipwrecks litter its rocky shores, and it is wild not only in being remote but also in the unique opportunities it offers to the adventurous traveler. The few roads run perpendicular to the coast, linking the small settlements with the N2 inland, so the best way to enjoy the Wild Coast is to venture, by 4x4, horse , mountain bike or on foot down the old sleigh paths and coastal trails , revelling in the hospitality of the local Xhosa people.
